On March 12, 2008, the Department of Youth Services, as the lead Ohio
Family and Children First (OFCF) Cabinet Agency for Partnerships for
Success (PfS), announced the availability of 1st year PfS grants and
readiness scholarship awards for state fiscal year 2009 (SFY09). The
PfS Announcement along with the Application Form has been forwarded to
the county FCF Council Coordinator / Director.
As the only recipient of PfS grants and scholarships, FCF council
leadership is responsible for engaging council stakeholders in this
application process. Only FCF councils in conjunction with their
designated administrative agents for SFY09 may apply for these awards.
Responses to this announcement will be used to make awards available
through SFY09, pending Cabinet Council direction, availability and
approval of funds.
Only the following forty-four county FCF Councils in conjunction with
their designated administrative agents for SFY09 are eligible to apply
for these grants. Eligible county councils are: Adams, Ashland,
Ashtabula, Athens, Auglaize, Belmont, Brown, Carroll, Clermont,
Crawford, Darke, Delaware, Fayette, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Harrison,
Henry, Highland, Huron, Jackson Jefferson, Knox, Lawrence, Lorain,
Marion, Mercer, Miami, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Morrow, Paulding,
Perry, Pike, Portage, Preble, Shelby, Tuscarawas, Union, Van Wert,
Vinton, Washington, and Wood.
The requested information cited in the FY09 PfS Grants and Readiness
Scholarships Announcement is due to the Ohio Department of Youth
Services by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008.

House Bill 289 Guidance
House Bill (H.B.) 289, sponsored by Representative White and signed
into law by Governor Taft on May 16, 2006 (effective: August 17, 2006),
increases accountability for state and local Family and Children First (FCF)
Councils. H.B. 289 requires county councils to develop a plan that
identifies the local interagency efforts to increase child well-being in
the county and report on their progress.

Youth Outcomes Measurement Tool
Directory
Toolfind is a free directory designed
to help professionals in youth-serving programs find measurement tools
for up to 11 youth outcome areas. The United Way of Massachusetts
Bay and Merrimack Valley has identified 46
tools to help you get started. All tools address one or more of the
outcome areas, are tested, low-cost and have few restrictions. Tools
included in this database address elementary, middle and/or high school
students and youth, parent, staff and teacher respondents.
